NY Lodging Review: Hotel Vienna Windham

I went on a solo overnight trip to the Catskills but I’m not quite ready yet for solo camping so I opted to stay in a hotel for the occasion. The Hotel Vienna Windham offered a great combination of convenience and location for someone looking to hike in the region.

🏔 LOCATION: Hotel Vienna Windham is located right in the town of Windham, in the Northern Catskills area, a few miles down the road from Windham Ski Mountain/Resort. It’s also centrally located to quite a few of the Catskill High Peaks, so it is a perfect location for both hikers and skiers! It’s location near town means that it is close to restaurants, coffee shops, and local stores and shops.

🌲VIBE: As a small locally owned hotel, it’s got that best kept secret type feel. Everything feels pretty ordinary as you check in, and the rooms are a standard hotel room with beds, a desk, and a bathroom. The rooms had recently been remodeled and the vibe was a modern-rustic type feel. The room I had was on the second floor and it had a sliding glass door and balcony area overlooking the wooded park below and the Catskill Mountains beyond. There was also pool house in another building on the property. I didn’t get a chance to check out the pool but from the windows it looked pretty awesome!

👍CONVENIENCE: As your standard run of the mill hotel amenities, it had just enough of what I needed, plus it was close enough to town that I could quickly run out to grab a bite to eat or stop at the store. The most convenient part was that the hotel was not only near the hiking locations I wanted to see, but it was attached to a large, public nature trail with great lower valley views of the Catskill High Peaks.

🧼 CLEANLINESS: Clean and tidy.

👍 CUSTOMER SERVICE: Check in and check out were a little bit slower, but the staff was pleasant overall.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The hotel didn’t have a big wow factor and was a pretty standard experience, but I had no complaints and the convenience and location of the hotel earns this place 4 stars!
